Artist
Alaaeddin Alhassoun was a Syrian artist from Aleppo whose work confronted displacement, memory, and the fragile persistence of home. He graduated from the College of Fine Arts at Damascus University in 2009 and pursued postgraduate studies in Artistic Critique at the Academy of Arts in Cairo in 2012.
Working in watercolour, oil, and acrylic — across figurative and abstract traditions — his practice was driven by the concepts of immigration, emigration, displacement, violence, and detention. Through layered compositions, he translated the weight of forced migration into visceral, emotionally charged imagery, drawing on lived experience while reaching toward a wider vocabulary of loss, resilience, and survival.
He passed away from a terminal illness, leaving behind a limited and precious body of work — most of which is held and exhibited through Borderless Curation. Each piece stands as both testimony and transformation.
More about Alaa and his works
Alaaeddin left behind a small and irreplaceable body of work. Due to his terminal illness, only a limited number of pieces exist — the majority of which are held and exhibited through Borderless Curation.
Pieces that once left his hands for far less than they were worth find, here, a setting equal to what they hold.
All proceeds from the sale of his works go directly to support his family.
